Hello every one,
This is our first dog. We have two kids, aged 3 and 6 and also an African Grey Parrot, Love birds and Angel fish And we stay in an apartment in Mumbai (Bombay)
We got Blacky about a week ago from a breeder. He is very good with the kids and very smart too. He was born on 15th April this year.
I will have lot of questions.

That's just for your avatar. To upload pictures, use photobucket and size them to 640x480 and post the IMG code. _________________

Good Morning and Welcome to Shepherd Central!
(I missed your post 1st time around, sorry about the belated welcome)
Anyway
I know the GSD scene in Inda is quite large. It will be very interesting to read your posts.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Here is a guide to posting pictures, its REALLY easy
(If I can do it ANYONE can, right guys??)

Thanks,
Yes, GS is very popular in India. My family home had two of them. Only thing is, most of GS live in large farm houses (like in my family house) and so they are not trained. They are virtually dangerous vicious biting machines to every one who is not from its owners house. :-)
Strangers, even relatives where afraid to come to these houses because of the dogs. My grand father has to put them inside the cage so that people can come out of the car.
Now things are different in the apartment life, GS has to be trained and groomed properly for this type of life. I started with Dr. Dunbar training videos and seems working.
Blackie started doing PuPu in the bathroom but SuSu is still where ever he feels like.
Another problem with mouthing I am trying to solve by following the instructions and hopefully will work. It is very important since have an uncontrollable hyper 3 year old boy and another hyper 3 month old puppy together at home.
Blackie developed diarrhea yesterday and vet came home and started medicines. He told me that Blackie might have eaten something he shouldn't have.
I am not sure whether it is due to the bone I gave him to chew. It was a hollow cows bone but he actually managed to eat about 10% of the bone.
Since he had 1.3 degree fever, we started to give him home made food instead of packed food. We give him little rice and chicken minced cooked together with a pinch of salt today morning and he ate it all. He was not eating food properly for the last two days, that is another reason we thought we give him like this. Yesterday night we gave him one boiled egg which he ate without an issue. So what we where thinking was we will give him home food in the morning (rice, chicken and one egg) and Royal Canins GS puppy food at night, and give multi vitamin tablet every day including calcium.
Le me take some good photos of him and will upload soon.
Tanks
Harish

I assume by lines, you are asking about Blackies ancestors.
The breeder from whom I bought blackie told me that he will mail me the pedigree certificate consisting of 4 generations of Blackie. I have yet to receive it since he stays in a different state in India.
He told me Blackies grand parents are from Germany and are graded high. (which I didn't understand).
I never bothered about who Blackies parents or grand parents are, I liked him when I first saw him first. Later I came to know that he is a "show quality dog puppy" and comes with the certificate.
The breeder was a bit skeptical about my children's age first but I managed to convince him later.
In our farms and all, we normally get puppies from our friends or relatives (for free of course)
Breeders in India normally get quality dogs from abroad and do breeding in India. They are comparatively much more expensive than pet shop, but of course, cheaper than in U.S.
